We had talked about creating a science-board-like display for our tabling events. I think it would be good to complete that project online and make it available on our website. For the display, as I recall we had talked about some type of temperature/effects over time thermometer or chart, pictures of local retreating glaciers, Tides Flats (LNG plant?), pictures of smoke from 2018.
A modified part of this chart is in the footnotes of "The Future We Choose". Is this something we want to include on our display?
I definitely do, and it needs to be a big enough screen to catch the stand back people, just think we have to be careful it doesn’t dominate the whole display.
We had a revised plan worked out for The Sustainability Expo, but it hasn’t been tested. I believe the science board was included along with a very limited number of flyers, and the video loop, along with letters to congress. I am a little concerned that the video will be irresistible to visitors to our table, and our other information will have to compete. I think it is important to create a non-electric attractive visual because we don’t always have accesss to power. But in this case while we’re tabling online, I think the big picture scientific argument needs to be available on our website. I don’t think we should just assume that the public understands the urgency of the problem, and why we can’t wait to act.
That chart is powerful. Having information regarding the likely state of the Earth under each scenario would be impactful.
I'd like to see a larger discussion regarding what the purpose of our tabling is and how we get there - we run the constant risk of having so much on and near our tables that passersby can't tell at a glance who we are or what we are working towards.
