Several of us made trips to Portland to hear scientist, professor, and author John Perona lecture on climate change. We all felt that we benefited greatly from John's presentations.
Now he's written a book - here is the text of his announcement email for those who may not have gotten it. Especially note the planned zoom on Nov 9.
Hi everyone, It has been a few years since the climate seminar series I offered at the McMenamins Kennedy School pub! I hope the seminars were enriching for you and helped inspire your interest in working for climate solutions.
For my part, the participation and great feedback I got from offering the seminars made a big difference, and inspired me to write a book on climate science, policy, politics and advocacy - all the topics in the seminar series. This took me a few years, but I did get there - the book will be published in print and e-book form by Ooligan Press on Nov. 30 (flyer attached).
The book fills an important niche, since there is no other detailed synthesis of the climate field written specifically for committed layperson activists. All the science, policy and politics relevant to the US is here, with opportunities for advocacy embedded throughout the narrative.
My friends at the League of Conservation Voters are generously sponsoring a zoom seminar about the book on Tuesday Nov. 9 from 6:30-8:00 pm. If you're interested, save the date, and I'll send along the details soon.

With heartfelt thanks for all your inspiration and enthusiasm,
John
