Since we had discussed this movie at one of our meetings, I thought there might be some interest in hearing the opinion of leading activists of the climate movement. It is also the opinion of two of the authors of our current book club selection, The Future We Choose, Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac. In the podcast they interview climate energy expert from Stanford University, Jonathan Koomey, who critiques the information presented as facts in the movie.
As an aside, I have started reading The Future We Choose, and had forgotten some background information on Christiana: she is the daughter of a three-term president of Costa Rica, who is considered to be the "father" of the modern country and its environmental policies. Interestingly, Tom is from the polar opposite background who can trace his ancestry to the founding chairman of the East India Company in the UK. Maybe that background will pique the interest of more members to join our reading of this book for our next book club meeting!
The podcast dropped this past Thursday and is titled, "Jane Fonda has been getting arrested", who they also interview. Find the podcast at globaloptimism.com
Actually the Jane Fonda interview is worth listening to for activism and where the movement is going. I was inspired!
