In response to your “one more thing to worry about,” I do think there is an umbrella thing that is key to understanding our environmental depredations as a species. And that is the belief that we can do anything to the environment, we can extract, cut down, fish out, pollute, and that it won’t make a difference, that it will all be okay, and the important thing is that we increase the GDP.
